Curug Cibeureum Jonggol: Paradise Hidden Behind Cliffs and Fog

Bogor, West Java June 28, 2025 – Curug Cibeureum Jonggol is a nature tourism destination located not far from the Situ Rawagede tourist area, precisely on Jalan Rawagede, Sirnajaya, Sukamakmur, Bogor, West Java. This waterfall offers stunning natural beauty, with clear cascading water, cool mountain air, and a serene forest atmosphere. However, behind its charm lies a major challenge: poor accessibility to the location.

Curug Cibeureum is perfect for nature lovers and seekers of tranquility. Unfortunately, the infrastructure leading to the site is still underdeveloped. When I visited recently, a landslide occurred near the main path, which severely disrupted access. Vehicles had to be parked far from the waterfall, and visitors were forced to walk a considerable distance on steep and slippery terrain.

A local resident, Mr. Darmawan, stated that such conditions are common. “Usually during the dry season, the place gets quite crowded, especially on weekends. But when the rainy season hits, the roads get slippery, and many people cancel their plans,” he said. He also criticized the lack of government attention to this promising tourism spot.

Curug Cibeureum can be reached in about two hours from downtown Bogor. Although the road is rocky with sharp inclines, many visitors are still drawn to it because the entrance fee is very affordable only Rp15,000 per person. This low cost makes it attractive to budget travelers.

The best time to visit Curug Cibeureum is during dry weather when the paths are safer and more accessible. In the rainy season, the risk of landslides and slippery roads becomes a serious concern, as I experienced firsthand during my visit. Travelers should plan accordingly to ensure a safe trip.

The main attraction of this waterfall lies in its natural purity. Visitors often come to take photos, relax around the waterfall or by the nearby garden, and even camp. For those who enjoy silence, nature, and clean mountain air, this is an ideal spot.

Despite its great potential, the lack of promotion and poor infrastructure keep Curug Cibeureum from becoming a popular destination. From my personal observation, the roads are difficult for regular vehicles to traverse even more so after rainfall or during landslide conditions like the one I encountered.

Curug Cibeureum Jonggol has the potential to become a tourism gem in the eastern part of  Bogor. With better management and improved access roads, it could attract not only local travelers but also visitors from outside the region.
