Tangerang – 4 Januari 2026, The road repair project on the Cisadane Bridge caused heavy traffic congestion in the area on Sunday morning, January 4, 2026. Although weekends are usually a time for residents to rest or exercise, the traffic remained busy as many people passed through the bridge area heading to the city center and nearby morning markets.

Traffic congestion began around 8:00 a.m., stretching from Pura Agung Kutajaya to the Cisadane Bridge. Motorists and drivers were forced to move slowly due to lane closures as workers from the Tangerang City Public Works Department (DPU) carried out road surface repairs.
At the scene, several DPU workers wearing yellow vests and helmets were seen operating asphalt compactors, while officers from the Transportation Agency and local police managed the traffic flow to prevent severe buildup near the bridge.
A witness, Rizky Pratama (32), a Kutajaya resident who was cycling with his friends that morning, said that the road was already crowded even though it was not a workday.
“I passed by around seven o’clock, and it was already packed. Many cars and motorcycles stopped because one lane was closed. But it’s fine what matters is that the road is being repaired, since the potholes were quite deep before,” he said.
Another local resident, Siti Nurhaliza (27), a coffee vendor near the bridge, mentioned that although traffic was heavy, the weekend atmosphere remained lively.
“It’s usually busy on Sundays with people exercising and passing by. It’s even busier now because of the repairs, but everyone seems patient. The residents are happy that the road is finally being fixed,” she explained with a smile.
According to the Head of the Tangerang City Public Works Department, the repair is part of the 2026 early-year road maintenance program. The project is being carried out in stages to minimize disruption to local activities and is expected to be completed within two to three days, depending on weather conditions.
The local government also urged residents to use alternative routes, such as Veteran Street or Teuku Umar Street, to avoid congestion during the repair work. Although the situation caused temporary delays, residents hope the project will soon restore smoother and safer road conditions for all users.
